Welcome New Teachers to SAISD!

San Antonio AllianceUncategorized

Alliance members are welcoming new SAISD teachers this week as they take part in their new teacher orientation at Tafolla Middle School. Thank you again to all of our volunteers!

A message from Alliance President Shelley Potter:

Congratulations on being hired by the San Antonio Independent School District! As the president of the San Antonio Alliance of Teachers and Support Personnel, the organization that represents SAISD teachers, I want to welcome you. We are a professional organization dedicated to achieving REAL RESULTS for our students and our community. SAISD teachers have elected the Alliance as the official representative of district teachers. In addition to our strong local organization, we are affiliated with both the National Education Association (NEA) and the American Federation of Teachers (AFT).

As you take part in the district’s Rising Stars Conference August 5th-8th, you will see many faces of Alliance members. We are a multidimensional organization through which members work together to make a difference for our students.  While we provide legal defense and liability protection, as you would expect of any teacher organization, more importantly we work to make sure teachers have the tools and resources needed to help our students be successful.  We look forward to meeting you at the Rising Stars Conference.

Come see us at the Rising Stars Conference: We invite you to come and talk to us any morning before the conference begins and/or on Wednesday August 7th in the vendor area. We will be the folks in the bright blue shirts! We will be having raffles, giveaways for new members, and a FREE LUNCH for all new teachers. Mark your calendar for the lunch, which will take place on Tuesday, August 6th from 11:30am-1:00pm. It’s very close to the conference site, and we will provide maps.

Ongoing Support: In addition to the activities during the Rising Stars
, the Alliance is an ongoing resource to our members. Ask your
colleagues about the Alliance. We are a group of 2500 educators in SAISD
advocating for REAL RESULTS for our students and our community. We offer
numerous professional learning opportunities to educators, such as the Foundations of Effective Teaching course—a series of sessions to help you hone your skills in classroom management and effective teaching strategies. You will hear more about this course, which we do in collaboration with the
district, at the Rising Stars Conference.
