From the Texas AFT: We have received inquiries from several AFT locals around the country regarding an endorsement of the above-cited company. Some time ago, AFT endorsed the Child Safe Kits that American Income Life (AIL) was promoting as a way of helping parents ID their children.
However, it has come to our attention that some of the AIL agents use our endorsement of this Kit as a way of aggressively marketing insurance products to AFT members. The typical aggressive AIL representatives will offer the Child Safe Kit for free only if the members agree to invite them into their homes. Once a meeting is arranged, the AIL representative tries to pressure the member into buying various insurance products.
Neither the insurance products, nor the aggressive sales tactics are endorsed by AFT.
USI Affinity is the only endorsed insurance vendor for AFT + Member Benefits.* Because of our insistence, USI does not aggressively market the endorsed insurance plans. Instead, they provide periodic mailings about the advantages of our various programs and will only contact an AFT member by phone if requested via an email, conversation with a service representative or by phone.
No USI Affinity representative will ever attempt to visit any AFT member at their home!
Should any of your members be approached by an AIL representative claiming an AFT endorsement in the days ahead, please make members aware that neither the aggressive sales tactics nor the various insurance programs are endorsed by AFT.
