The San Antonio Alliance of Teachers & Support Personnel was the ONLY organization to speak out on behalf of employees in SAISD for a pay raise. On Monday, June 24th, the SAISD School Board unanimously approved a raise for the 2013-2014 school year for district employees. Paraprofessional and classified employees will receive 4% of their pay-grade midpoint. Teachers, Librarians, and RNs will receive a minimum increase of 3% of their last year’s actual salary. Enhancements to the lower steps on the salary schedule were made for beginning teachers. This should improve the district’s ranking from 15th to 7th for beginning teachers. All other employees will receive an increase of 3% based on their pay-grade midpoint for their job category. According to the District, the raises will be reflected in employee paychecks based on the start of their contract/work cycle for the 2013-14 school year.
In addition to the salary increase, the board approved a non-recurring longevity stipend. This stipend is intended to recognize district employees for their loyal service to the district. Each employee with 15 or more years of service in SAISD will receive $500. This will be paid in January 2014.
