The SAISD School Board voted on and unanimously approved a raise for district employees. Paraprofessionals and classified employees will receive a 4% of the midpoint raise. Teachers, Librarians, and RNs will receive a minimum raise of 3% of their actual salary. Enhancements to the lower steps on the teacher salary schedule were made for beginning teachers, which will improve the district’s ranking from 15th to 7th or 8th for beginning teachers. All other employees will get a 3% of the midpoint raise for their job category. In addition to the salary increase, the board approved a non-recurring longevity stipend. This stipend is intended to recognize district employees for their loyal service to the district. Each employee with 15 or more years of service in SAISD will receive $500. This will be paid in January. The Alliance was the only organization to speak out on behalf of employees in SAISD and advocate for a pay raise.
