The San Antonio Alliance’s “READ ACROSS AMERICA” is part of the National Education Association’s annual reading motivation and awareness program that calls for every child in every community to celebrate reading. As we take part in READ ACROSS AMERICA we celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday and the joys of reading. Our goal is to motivate our SAISD students to read and create lifelong successful readers. Research has shown that children who are motivated and spend more time reading do better in school.
This year the Alliance has formed eight READ ACROSS AMERICA teams which consists of a cat, a thing, a driver and an assistant. On Friday, March 6th, each team will visit SAISD campuses that have requested a visit from our team. We will visit over 50 schools!
Tonight SAISD School Board Member, James Howard, District 2 presented the approval of the resolution in recognition of the San Antonio Alliance of Teachers and Support Personnel and NEA “Read Across America” Celebration. Thank you to our SAISD school members for approving the resolution!
