Certification pay for Police Officers

At the December Consultation meeting, this issue was raised. Many police departments pay their officers for certifications and some pay for degrees. At the January meeting, Chief Ward shared information he had gathered from six other Texas school districts. Amounts paid for intermediate, advanced, and masters certification varied from $50/month to $100 per month for intermediate, $98/month to $200/month for advanced, and $135 to $300/month for masters. Additional info will be gathered, including from non-school district police departments in the area. It was noted that some police departments give additional pay for bilingual and for longevity. Discussion will continue as the district begins to look at salaries for next school year.
