The San Antonio AFL-CIO Central Labor Council held a Labor Day Celebration on August 24, 2013 to celebrate the 2013 Honorees who are examples for their dedication and service to their union and to San Antonio’s working community. These honorees give hope to the future of our unions and that they will continue to fight for workers’ rights. Two Alliance members were honored during the event.
Rosemary Saenz, Alliance member and Food Service employee at Jefferson High School in SAISD, was honored. Rosemary’s leadership has empowered many support personnel employees. As a cook and union leader, she has identified many issues of concern for the Alliance. Through her representation for the Alliance, she has fought for better working conditions.
JoAnne Comeaux, retired Alliance member, was also honored. JoAnne was a teacher, counselor, and educational diagnostician in SAISD. JoAnne was one of the first 30 members of the Alliance. She was a strong leader in the Special Education Department.
