On Friday February 3rd and Saturday February 4th, Alliance President, Shelley Potter, members of the Alliance Community Engagement Committee and Linda Bridges, Texas AFT President, attended the two-day conference. The conference was held by the Save Texas Schools Coalition, a state-wide coalition dedicated to preserving Texas schools. Mayor Julian Castro, Rep. Mike Villarreal, Sen. Leticia Van de Putte, and superintendent, Dr. Folks, were some of the speakers during the two-conference.
On Saturday, there was a series of workshops to help people understand the budget cuts and how to mobilize others to change the situation in the next legislative session (including how to get people out to vote in the primaries).
