90 years ago today, the 19th Amendment to the United States Constitution was ratified which guaranteed women the constitutionally-protected right to vote, ending a decades old struggle to win this right of suffrage.
On this important anniversary, in the spirit of courageous women and men of the last century, the Alliance encourages all employees to register and fully participate in the important duties of citizenship. At Monday night's board meeting, the SAISD Board of Trustees placed a $515 million bond before the voters in November, making it is even more important that employees be prepared to participate and make your vote count.
If you or your spouse is not registered to vote at your current residence, if you have a son or daughter who will be 18 by November 2nd, you can help update your voter registration or register for them. Deadline to register is in early October. The Alliance has voter registration cards, or you can obtain one online from the Texas Secretary of State's website. Correct Zip Code for San Antonio is 78207-4505. Check with your county's elections office in other counties.
