Alliance Rep Elections May 27th - June 4th

Elections will take place May 27-June 4 for Alliance Representatives (AR) for the 2010-2011 school year. Under Alliance bylaws, sites are entitled to one AR per twenty members or major fraction thereof. Every site is guaranteed at least one AR. Members who want their names on the ballot are to notify one of the current ARs at their worksite, by Wednesday May 26. Current ARs will then create a ballot with the candidates' names. This is a secret ballot election. Alliance members should receive a ballot between May 27 and June 4 with ballots due back to the current ARs by Friday June 4. Ballots should then be counted; all candidates will be invited to this. If any candidate feels that an observer from the Alliance Office is needed for the worksite election, she/he may contact the Alliance Office to make that request. The Alliance will make every attempt to accommodate such requests, but will handle them on a first come/first serve basis if there are too many requests for us to meet.

If you are considering running, but wonder if you can handle the role, never fear! The Alliance will be conducting a full-day training session for Alliance Reps during the summer to help ARs with understanding and learning their role. All 2010-2011 Alliance Reps are asked to plan to attend the training. The training will be offered twice, Tuesday June 28 and another date yet to be determined, so that you can choose a date that works best for you. We will get the second date to all ARs as soon as possible. In addition, our Alliance Organizers have summer lunches for ARs in small groups, which give you the chance, in an informal setting, to talk about your role as an AR.
